I beg to acknowledge with thanks your notification, under date the 29th inst., on the subject of my passage money; informing me that though the Secretary of State could not pledge himself at liberty to grant any remuneration in respect of it, a contract passage shall be ordered for me on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company's vessels; whereby some reduction will be made in the cost of the passage.
